加賀依緑園について
About KAGA IRYOKUEN
当館は、山中温泉を代表する
老舗旅館「よしのや」の第二別荘として整備され、
令和3年～令和5年の大規模改修によって「加賀依緑園」として生まれ変わりました。
歴史ある建物を生かしたギャラリーでは、展覧会やイベントを通して
工芸や芸能など、地元の文化を紹介していきます。
This facility was originally developed as the second villa of Yoshinoya, a long-established ryokan representing Yamanaka Onsen.
Following extensive renovations from 2021 to 2023 (Reiwa 3 to Reiwa 5), it was reborn as Kaga Iryokuen.
In our gallery, which preserves the charm of the historic building, we introduce local culture—such as traditional crafts and performing arts—through exhibitions and events.
依緑園の由来
Origin of the Name “Iryokuen”
依緑園という名称は
書家の日下部鳴鶴が明治十八年に宿泊した際に杜甫の漢詩「名園緑水に依る」にちなんで命名されました。
The name Iryokuen was inspired by the Chinese poem “Relying on the Green Waters of a Famous Garden” by To-ho.
It was named by the renowned calligrapher Meikaku Kusakabe when he stayed here in 1885 (Meiji 18).

ギャラリー
建物内・花月の間では、金沢・ひがし茶屋街を拠点とするギャラリー「縁煌」による
地元に縁ある作家の個展を中心とした展覧会を定期的に開催しています。
また唐船の間では、常設の販売スペースとして地元工芸作家作品の一部をお求めいただけます。
Inside the building, in the Kagetsu-no-ma room, we regularly host exhibitions curated by Enishira, a gallery based in Kanazawa’s Higashi Chaya District. These exhibitions primarily feature solo shows by artists with local ties.
In the Karahune-no-ma room, selected works by local artisans are available for purchase in our permanent sales space.
金沢を中心とした北陸三県の工芸作家が手掛ける作品を中心に取り扱うギャラリー。
手作りでありながら、クラフト過ぎず、洗練されたデザイン性を感じられる。
伝統や経験を大切にしながらも、次世代に繋げる新たな面を持った革新性を感じられる。
そして、これまで見たことがないようなモノであることで、喜びや感動を感じられる。
工業生産、大量生産できるものではなく、人の手を介し、人の心が通い、心に訴えかけるものを提供しています。
Our gallery focuses on works created by artisans from the three Hokuriku prefectures, with a particular emphasis on those from the Kanazawa area.
The pieces we feature are handmade, yet they go beyond mere craft — they embody refined, sophisticated design.
They honor tradition and experience while embracing innovation that connects to the next generation.
Each item offers a sense of delight and emotional resonance, stemming from its uniqueness something you’ve never seen before.
These are not mass-produced industrial products; they are works shaped by human hands, imbued with heart, and designed to speak to the soul.

1 ラウンジ
1. Lounge
八百年にわたる加賀依緑園の歴史をご紹介しています。皇族関係者や文人など著名な宿泊者のエピソードや、昭和天皇がご宿泊された際に使用された食器類など貴重な史料展示もあります。
This area presents the 800-year history of Kaga Iryokuen. It includes exhibits of valuable historical items such as tableware used by Emperor Showa during his stay, as well as episodes about notable past guests, including members of the imperial family and literary figures.

2 庭園
2. Garden
遠州流庭園として建築物と庭が一体となった「庭屋一如」の考えのもと作られた庭園。令和の改修では、庭園デザイナー・烏賀陽百合氏の監修によって、水の流れをどこから見ても楽しめるようになりました。
Designed under the Enshū-style philosophy of teioku ichinyo (the unity of garden and architecture), the garden creates a seamless harmony between structure and nature. During its Reiwa-era renovation, under the supervision of garden designer Yuri Ugaya, it was redesigned so the flowing water can be enjoyed from any vantage point.

3 展示室
3. Exhibition Room
展示室では金唐革紙を中心とした展示をしています。金唐革紙は、十七世紀にオランダとの貿易によって輪入された革製品から着想を得て日本で生まれた擬革紙です。明治期には一大輸出産業として栄えながらも昭和戦前に技術が一度途絶え、金唐紙研究所の長年の研究により復元に成功しました。
This room showcases exhibits centered on Kinkarakawakami (gold-embossed leather paper). Inspired by leather goods brought from the Netherlands in the 17th century, Kinkarakawakami is a uniquely Japanese imitation leather paper. It flourished as an export product during the Meiji period, but the technique was once lost before World War II. Thanks to decades of research by the Kinkarakami Research Institute, the craft has been successfully revived.

4 菊の間 桐の間
4. Chrysanthemum Room / Paulownia Room
大正〜昭和初期の建築を移設したもので、近代西洋建築の影響が色濃く残っています。菊の間には当時の壁紙が 今も残っており、桐の間では金唐紙研究所によって復元された「金唐紙」 が建設当時の輝きを伝えています。
These rooms were relocated from early 20th-century buildings and reflect strong influences of modern Western architecture. The Chrysanthemum Room still retains its original wallpaper, while the Paulownia Room features restored Kinkarakami, recreated by the Kinkarakami Research Institute to reflect the brilliance of the original period.

5 御殿（御幸の間）
5. Imperial Suite (Goten / Miyuki-no-ma)
井波彫刻中興の祖・初代大島五雲が設計し、高名な宮大工である天日仁太郎が腕を振るった御殿には、作り手たちの技術が凝縮しています。
This room showcases the craftsmanship of the first Goun Ōshima, the father of modern Inami woodcarving, and master carpenter Jintarō Amahi. Their skills are evident in the intricate architectural details.

6 花月の棟
6. Kagetsu Wing
当館は多くの作家に愛された旅館でした。 川端康成や今東光、吉川英治などが執筆のために長期滞在された記録やエピソードが残って います。
Our inn has long been beloved by many artists. Notable authors such as Yasunari Kawabata, Tōkō Kon, and Eiji Yoshikawa are known to have stayed here for extended periods to write, and various episodes from their time remain part of our legacy.

7 唐船の棟・茶室
7. Karahune Wing / Tea Room
かつて浴室があった部分は、茶室に生まれ変わりました。裏千家家元の邸内にある茶室「又隠」参照し、屋根の一部 にはこけら葺きを用いるなど外観の細やかな造作にもこだわっています。唐船の間では、金沢を拠点とするギャラリー「縁煌」による工芸の展示・販売を行っています。
What was once the bathhouse has been transformed into a tea room. Inspired by Yūin, a tea room within the residence of the Urasenke grand master, it features exquisite exterior details, including kokera-buki (thin wooden shingle roofing). In the Karahune-no-ma, we host exhibitions and sales of local crafts curated by Enishira, a gallery based in Kanazawa.

8 長谷部神社
8. Hasebe Shrine
兵乱のため一時荒廃した山中温泉を再興したと伝えられる武士、長谷部信連を祀る神社です。
This shrine honors Nobutsura Hasebe, the samurai credited with reviving Yamanaka Onsen after it fell into ruin during times of war.
